An extension needs its own electrical circuits for power, lighting, heating and sometimes kitchen appliances or bathroom electrics. DCC Electrics provides electrical upgrades for extensions across Kent and the South East.

We assess your existing supply capacity, run new circuits from the consumer unit, and install all electrics in the extension to current BS 7671 standards.

Extensions come in many forms — single-storey rear extensions, over-garage additions, loft conversions, orangeries, and garden rooms. Before starting, we assess your current consumer unit to determine whether it can accommodate the additional circuits your extension requires. If the board is full or outdated, we recommend an upgrade as part of the extension electrics. We also evaluate your supply capacity — a large extension with kitchen appliances, underfloor heating, and an EV charger may require a supply upgrade from UK Power Networks.

Extension electrics must be notified to building control as Part P notifiable work. As NICEIC-registered contractors, we self-certify and notify building control directly, providing the certification your architect, conveyancer, and insurer need without additional cost or delay.
